DAY 05 | Salvation / Jesus
She will give birth to a son, and you will name him Yeshua (Salvation, Jesus), because he will save his people from their sins.
MUSIC
PRAYER
Jesus, my Savior, I give You my highest praise for salvation is found in no one else but in Your powerful name.
Thank You for Your redemption plan, it embodies so much of Your sacrificial love, mercy, patience, and grace. You've set me free from sins and eternal punishment.
Forgive me when I take Your salvation for granted. Your salvation is free, but it is never cheap. Jesus paid the price no one else could pay.
Holy Spirit, remind me what an undeserved and glorious privilege it is to be saved. Open my eyes so I may see how desperately the world needs Your salvation, move my heart to action and share Your love with the lost souls.
Because You are my Salvation, I declare I am saved by grace through faith. I am loved. I am forgiven. I am free.
A few facts…
Yeshua was the Aramaic version of the Hebrew name Yehoshua (Joshua), and means “salvation”, “to save”, “to rescue” and “Yahweh (The LORD) is salvation”.
The root of the name Jesus lies in the name Yeshua.
Transliteration of Yeshua into Jesus:
[Hebrew/Aramaic] Ye-sh-ua (Yay-shoo-ah)
→ [Greek] Iesous (ee-ay-sous)
→ [Latin] Ie-s-us (ee-ay-sous)
→ [English] Je-s-us (gee-sus)
In biblical Hebrew, a name was more than just a unique identifying title. It spoke of his/her calling, purpose, or destiny.
Exercise 1:
TWO-WAY JOURNALING
In a quiet place, try to sit up straight and don’t slouch. Roll and relax your neck and shoulders.
Smile and breathe. Smile, from the very beginning, He has chosen you to be saved (2 Thessalonians 2:13). Inhale deeply as you think of baby Jesus who came to deliver mankind. Pause and hold your breath for a few seconds, and sincerely give thanks to Jesus, your Savior. Slowly breathe out and release any feelings of helplessness or hopelessness.
Whether you are planning to write your heart out, or just writing your random thoughts to Him, I see His delight in you. He honors you for the time you spend alone with Him.
Today we are writing to Salvation/Jesus, your Savior. Listen to Him in stillness, and write down His response. Let’s welcome the Holy Spirit to guide you to a hearty conversation.
[Part 1]
Dear Jesus, my Salvation, my Savior …
[Part 2]
Dear (your name), …
-
• ask Him why He chose to save you, and how He felt the moment you accepted Jesus
• ask Him how He wants you to respond to this gift of salvation
• ask God how He wants you to share faith with someone specificcheck out APPENDIX 2 for more
Exercise 2:
DECLARATION
He is your salvation which is found in no one else but in the name of Jesus. How does this relate to the way you live today? In your journal write down your own declaration:
Because You are Salvation/Jesus, I declare I can / I will / I am…
Read your declaration aloud, to Him and to yourself. Repeat a couple of times, let these words wake up your soul.
This completes Day 5 of HE. Today, I pray that you will always be aware of what salvation means to you and to Him. This awareness will inspire you to a life-long, loving response to Him.
